The weather is looking to be cool…but, no worries…at least it’s not raining like the last bunch of weekends…the morning fog keeps the water glassy…

Despite the grim weather forecast for rain yesterday, that started like 2 weeks ago, over 50 people turned out for another of our free SUP demos…most people were still paddling in trunks…
Folks driving up from Orange County and down from SLO county to demo boards…they didn’t go home empty handed…10 people will have new boards under the Christmas tree…
STOKED FOR LIFE!!!

My new 8’6″ Jammer and 8’10 Starboard brushed carbon Wide Point brought out dozens of paddlesurfers for a look see…

Mahalos to our Coreban rep, Linus…just getting back from trips to Montana and Maui…we made the drive up to Santa Barbara worth it for him…as we found homes for the last couple of the 9′ Fusions in Pure construction…and, put another bite into the Pure Icons as well…

Lots of exciting new product at the shop…stop in for a look see…

With any luck, this general weather trend will continue and we’ll get the sun to poke through earlier in the morning…but, no worries…the morning fog keeps the water glassy…

It also didn’t stop 5 dozen people from coming to the last SUP demo on July 12th…even with the World Cup finals going on…
The reps for Coreban and NSP will have a sample of boards to try…

We’ve had some foggy “June gloom” (Junuary…;-) conditions lately…even getting measurable (miserable?) drizzle…but, a little sub-tropical disturbance caused just enough of a perturbation to lift the ceiling a bit on the low cloud cover yesterday for another one of our fee SUP demos…the silver lining in this weather pattern is that it makes for glassy ocean paddling conditions…way better than the Catalina Eddy effect we experienced last month…
We had over 5 dozen people come out despite the weather and the exciting 1-0 double overtime World Cup soccer game going on…we caught a few clients listening on the radio…or, maybe that was a golf tournament…dunno…;-)

Adam hamming it up on the Starboard Hero…I bet you can’t do this on any other 9′er on the planet…he also didn’t look this relaxed when he was on the new Starboard Surf Race he recently picked up…the Kiwi is bloody fast, mate!

Time to pack it up and head back to the shop…we got boards to get ready for adoption…BTW, the sun did come out and we had a great day…;-)

We salute those that have sacrificed everything so that we can enjoy a day like today…truly a gorgeous, classic Santa Barbara “Chamber of Commerce” day…

We’re working with a woman that has a husband on deployment in the Middle East…who fortunately is coming home soon…boy, is he gonna be surprised when he opens the garage door…;-)
“Monkey” and “Molly Claire” holding down the fort at the beach on a gorgeous day in Goleta “The Goodland”…

It’s all about the STOKE!

First time SUP surfing…Starboard “Big Easy” makes it easy peasy…;-)

It was a beautiful standup paddling day yesterday in Santa Barbara…
If we had listened to the “weather or not” prognosticators from TV news and/or the NWS, we would have stayed inside all day and done our taxes…;-)
Maybe they had us confused with Atlanta…

Anyways…we’ve had a number of clients that have been wanting to demo a couple of our boards to help their buying decision…they’ve been sitting on the fence for awhile…any longer and they would have had what we call “paralysis by analysis”…
causing them to miss out on heaps of paddling days…JUST DO IT!
There are no “stinkers” in our shop…we’ve weeded them out…we only stock the best performers, best durability, and best value standup paddle boards in our shop…the very same ones that we paddle almost daily…this makes the decision easier for you…at the end of the day you have to end up trusting somebody with your hard earned recreational dollars…you might as well trust us…more people have than any other shop carrying SUP’s…
We won’t sell you a board made for surfing Pipeline, or Mavericks, if you live in Santa Barbara and surf Leadbetter…quite frankly, we don’t sell “make believe”…we’ll leave that to others…;-)
Our surfing SUP’s are made for surfing “real world” waves…
If you want and need a good distance or fitness paddler…we carry the best brands and models on the planet…and, that’s what you will get…we know them inside and out…
Between our paddle racing schedule, weekday workloads, and funky weekend weather, it had been hard to schedule even a small focused board demo…and, based on Sunday’s forecast, it L@@Ked like another wash…
As it turned out, Saturday was one of the nicest days in a couple of weeks…we all said that it was kinda hard to believe based on what we intuitively felt and saw, that it was gonna get crappy on Sunday…statistically the best way to forecast tomorrow’s weather is to L@@K at what it’s doing today and extrapolate…this could get you killed…but, statistically you would be right more than wrong…so, we relented and said if it wasn’t raining sideways, we’d do it…good call…

With the quality time spent onboard the various SUP’s, our clients have been able to get over the hump of making a board model/brand decision…a side benefit was that a number of never-evers were able to get “baptized” on a standup paddle board…

We even got to meet Victor Velasco and his family, who drove up from the Oxnard beach area…he said that the opportunity to try out the new Naish Glide was too hard to resist…check out his blog…it’s pretty kewl…especially for me since I graduated in Oceanography…
Victor is a self-described “Salty Surfer (of shortboards, longboards, windsurfers, kiteboards, snowboards and standup paddleboards); Budding Surfboard Shaper; Studier of all manner of aquatic life; Husband to Lala; Father to Big M and Noe; Mechanical and Ocean Engineer; US Navy Deep Sea Diver; World Explorer”…

Deb liked the new Naish Glide, as well…a few pelicanos checking her out…

Bird day in paradise…there was even an osprey fishing…

Nelson was really scooting along for his first time on a SUP…

Ona on the 10’6″ Naish…

We provide personalized instruction…on stable, state of the art, SUP’s…
Here is the 10′ x 34″ Starboard “Whopper” in action…

Jen found the 10’6″ Hobie to her liking…she is quite the birder, and was constantly pointing out specimens to us…

Pam showing good form on the new Starboard 10’5″ Drive…
