Spring Blowboarding

More often than not, the wind is blowing on this stretch of the Central California coast…combined with a swell, it can be EPIC…so, I still had lots of great memories of past sessions bouncing around in my head…

We knew the forecast didn’t have much in the way of waves in it…but, it did say SCA (Small Craft Advisory) with gusts to 35mph…so, in addition to our standup paddling toys, we also brought some blowboarding toys…

Of course my old buddy, Treve, a Central Coast SUP pioneer…was already out ripping on a strapless and finless board…

We got Treve started on standup back in 2005 after we had returned from our annual trip to Maui…here he is on our original Sean Ordonez “Big Red” prototype

I’m nicely powered on the 4.7m2…my buddy, Brad, coming in on a 4.5m2…he bought a home here a few years ago…now, that he’s retired, all he does is standup paddle…windsurf…and, work on his casa…;-)

High wind blowboarding is like riding a bike…even after taking a little time off…;-)

Depowering the sail…once on the wave, you want to just let go of the sail or kite completely and just surf…;-)

You’re prolly looking at a bazillion ticks…the most I have ever seen here…;-)

Being out in this kind of wind can make you a little bit crazy…but, at least if you are moving the ticks can’t jump on you…;-)

Speaking of crazy…I’m gonna have to check the photographer for ticks…;-)

Next time I’ll get some pics of Deb sailing here…
