The Jammer is…

UNFREAKINBELIEVABLE!!!

I had it out this morning on a dropping tide with long period waist to shoulder high waves…and, the occasional head high set…after my first solid wave I was hooked…the cutbacks are amazing…they carry speed instead of bleeding it off…again, the amazing increase in stability that I verified yesterday was evident…so responsive…also, very pivoty as you would expect…

We are starting to get emails and calls from all over the world by experienced surfers who are saying why hasn’t anyone done this before?!?!

I compare it to 1999 when windsurfing sails went from high aspect ratios to low aspect ratios…L/W…made everything before obsolete overnight…it’s really got me thinking in standup that we need to go beyond the thinking in surfboards where they are described by length , width, and thickness…like in sailboards where we talk in volume…some standup companies are producing stated volumes…but, by implementing a L/W x Vol. parameter we may get a better handle on a standardized stability rating…but, now I’ve kind of thrown a monkey wrench in the mix…volume distribution profiles don’t have the same efficacy when it comes to stability…again, borrowing a concept from windsurfing when we really started to tweak volume distributions by cutting the noses and tails off sailboards…we had to come up with the concept of “virtual volume”…the buoyancy volume that you actually “feel”…it also incorporates the secondary stability parameter…the propensity to resist tipping over and the forgiveness to make the save from getting “bucked off”…
